The Bus Station in Braintree, Essex

The Bus Station in Braintree, Essex, occupying approximately 1/2 acre in Braintree town centre, was acquired by Portman with a view to its redevelopment. Within 12 months of acquisition Portman were able to successfully conclude negotiations with the Local Council culminating in receipt of a full/detailed Planning Consent for the demolition of this unsightly building and its replacement with a mixed use scheme of 42 apartments and 4,000 sq feet of retail.  Considerable attention to detail was given to the facade of the building in order that the new development would be seen as an attractive addition to the Town Centre whilst being viewed sympathetically within its local surroundings.
